John Nemeth

Blind Pig Records, also self-released in 2012

John Németh is one of the best-reviewed younger blues artists on the circuit today. Not only a master of the harp, he also has a soul-filled voice and on-stage presence that is matched by few others today. He has opened for Robert Cray, Keb Mo', Earl Thomas and many more. John burst onto the national scene with the highly acclaimed 2007 release Magic Touch on Blind Pig Records, which found him adding vintage soul sounds to his classic blues music. Magic Touch was produced by Anson Funderburgh and had guest Junior Watson on guitar. Németh was a featured artist in Anson Funderburgh & The Rockets as well as the Junior Watson Band before signing with Blind Pig. The Idaho-born Németh has continued the move into soul/R&B with two more critical and fan favorites, Love Me Tonight and Name The Day. He has travelled the world performing including gigs in Europe, Asia and Canada. John Németh’s latest releases are a pair of 2012 live albums called Blues Live and Soul Live. Németh has been nominated for nine Blues Music Awards, five of them for his work in 2012, which will be given out in May 2013.

“An incredible talent, one of the new generation of blues that’s carrying us on…This is a major talent in your presence.” –Tom Mazzolini, San Francisco Blues Festival

"I remember telling friends up North in '80 that they should go see Stevie Ray Vaughan, but they weren't impressed because he wasn't famous yet. It will give me great pleasure to say, 'I told you so!' about John Németh. You'll see." -Blues Revue magazine

"Either John Németh is one of the greatest vocalists in the world or this was the best performance of his life, or both." -Washington Blues Society

"Definitely one of the best club shows that I've ever seen. John Németh is simply the Blues artist that I feel is most deserving of more recognition. Check the man and his band out whenever you might get the chance."

“It's a real tribute to his talent that he's not just imitating a genre, but that he's re-creating it, complete with its original style and feeling, but re-creating it in his own image.” -Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
